Laura started competing in triathlon in 2010 coming from a running background. Her first triathlon created an immediate love and draw to the sport with a competitive thirst for more. She started at sprint distance gaining speed and experience over all three disciplines which soon led onto longer distance endurance races including Ironman, marathons and long-distance cycling sportives.

Competing in the Xtra mile events in her first season, it soon came apparent that she was stronger than she thought and took the overall series win from her results over her first 5 events. The winning prize was a blue seventy wetsuit…… that lead progression to competing in some open water events where she then found her real passion for the sport.

Coming 2nd female at her first long distance triathlon, the long course weekend, just 5 weeks before her first ironman (UK 2013) in which she crossed the line in 11 hours and 27 minutes, she knew that her strengths and love was to compete in longer distance events.

Meet Laura

“After achieving my degree in marketing and working in that field for several years, I decided to start my own business up. Gleam It (domestic cleaning services) was born in 2006 and is still running strong 13 years later with my great team behind me, I am looking forward to handing the hands on reins over to my supervisors to allow me to commit my full time to my athletes and my own training.

7 Years ago, I became a fully qualified level 3 Personal Trainer, Sports Nutritionist, Core Stability Instructor and Circuits Trainer. During this time I have gained numerous sporting qualifications whilst teaching classes at David Lloyd leisure. In 2016 I set up the David Lloyd Triathlon Club and this has been growing ever since.

I am a driven and competitive person in both life and sport and I share that passion with my athletes. I like to find what drives and motivates them and work with that spark to get the best out of them. I thrive off making a difference in their life, whether it be to be able to progress from a super sprint to standard distance or to achieve their GB AG vest to compete in European and world championships. I have a very encouraging nature and I will help you to bring the best out by getting to know you as a person and an athlete.

Coming from a background of competitive horse riding from an early age I have always had a competitive edge to want to push myself as far as I can.

My passion these days is getting out in the hills or Cheshire lanes on my bike, swimming in a lake or running through the forest trails. There is no better feeling. After a few years off competing I am back training hard and racing to gain my GB AG vest over the next few years."

As a total newcomer to triathlon and the training involved I decided to sign up with Total Tri Training.

A few months into it I can say that the structured training programs, expert coaching and knowledge amongst the coaches has been a pleasant surprise.

My coach Laura is very pro-active and really seems to care for her athletes, the programs she puts together take into consideration people’s time constraints, strengths, weaknesses along with any injuries they may have.

Laura will explain the method behind the coaching and is very forthcoming with feedback after every session.

This structured approach and the improvements I am already beginning to see make this coaching very rewarding and enjoyable.

Highly recommended for anyone who likes to put themselves to the test.

JAN WYLES, 50-54 AG ATHLETE, MAINLY SPRINT BUT ASPRING TO STANDARD DISCTANCES , "Laura’s way of coaching means that she is approachable and supportive whilst also ensuring I am challenged and stretched. I think joining TTT with Laura as my coach is the most positive thing I’ve done for ages, it’s reinvigorated my training and I’m looking forward to racing next year!". READ MORE….>>>

I have competed in triathlons on and off for about 10 years, but in the main my background is in running. I’ve always felt I could do better at triathlon if I gave it more focus, however my usual tactic has been to tag cycling and swimming onto a crammed running schedule each week. The whole process of trying to balance my training and being reluctant to take the focus of my runs ended up with me feeling over-trained, suffering injuries and just not progressing. Quite frankly what is actually my hobby all got a bit stressy!

So I am really pleased I decided to approach Laura about TTT coaching as this has all changed. I love getting my training programme each week, and the balance across the disciplines feels spot on. I’m enjoying the structure of the sessions, which are well thought out, balancing hard days with easier days, and power or speed with endurance sessions. The group Zwift bike intervals are fab, and I’m improving massively on my bike. There hasn’t been any detriment to my running, which was always a fear, and some structure for swimming got me back and happy in the pool (before lockdown!)

Laura is a great coach, she’s positive, enthusiastic and really interested in helping the people she coaches. Laura explains her thinking behind my schedule each week and the purpose or expectations for training sessions really well. She gives me honest feedback on my performances, being encouraging but also calls things out that don’t look right, including insisting on rest sometimes! Laura’s way of coaching means that she is approachable and supportive whilst also ensuring I am challenged and stretched.

I think joining TTT with Laura as my coach is the most positive thing I’ve done for ages, it’s reinvigorated my training and I’m looking forward to racing next year!
