Based in Shropshire, Tom has been involved with sport from a young age, competing in cross country at high school before transitioning to cycling in 2004. After rising through the ranks as a junior and U23 has was regional champion and raced at international level.
During this time whilst competing at elite level he gained an understanding of the commitment & hard work required to be successful while balancing training alongside working as a personal trainer & competing at the weekends. This gave him a deep insight into the demands that many age group athletes face, dealing with family & work commitments. Tom competed in his first Triathlon in 2013 and was soon winning races outright at sprint distance and is now looking to test himself in pursuit of a pro licence. Ever since he has been been hooked on the multi-dimensional aspect of the sport. With his background in personal training, coaching clients with a cycle & triathlon background, and managing international cycle tours with groups of all abilities, he is well placed to guide you on your Triathlon journey.
"I’m based on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border nearby to the surrounding countryside & discovered my passion for Triathlon after racing bikes and ultimately working abroad in some beautiful training destinations! 9 years ago I became a fully qualified fitness instructor, working through David Lloyd, and in that time coached many clients that came to me looking for cycling/triathlon specific strength and conditioning to complement their training. After my time road racing domestically in the UK and working as a PT, I moved abroad to manage, guide and co-ordinate cycle tours. During this time I helped many people overcome their fears and anxieties within the sport, helping develop and foster positive mindset with gentle encouragement to push people much further than they would have thought possible.
After transitioning to Triathlon and working alongside TTT, I plan to further my own development of working towards a pro licence, while coaching athletes to be the best they can be in the most time efficient and effective manner possible. I believe a consistent & flexible plan, working around your work/family life, is the key to a successful and ultimately happy athlete that will enjoy the sport for many years to come.
