Meet Milly
I began my triathlon journey at 20 years old, inspired by watching my now-husband Tom compete. I thought, ‘this looks pretty cool’, and ‘if he can do it, I can too’. At that time, I had no experience in swimming, cycling, or running, having grown up riding horses. But I decided to dive in, signing up for my first sprint triathlon. With being surrounded by a lot of experience people in the sport, I learned to swim, bike, and run from scratch. I crossed the finish line of that first race with the biggest smile on my face and the triathlon bug well and truly caught. Since then, I’ve completed five Ironman 70.3s, a marathon, and even won a few triathlons along the way.
My triathlon journey hasn’t been without its challenges, including multiple injuries. I know firsthand how tough it can be to manage and overcome them, which is why I’ve dedicated much of my career as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach to understanding injury prevention, development, and management. As a result, I’ve helped many athletes return to their sport after an injury, and improve their performance through specialist strength training.
Triathlon also sparked my passion for performance, problem-solving, and helping others reach their full potential. This led me to pursue a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Sports Performance Science, where I gained the knowledge to guide athletes to personal success. My studies also gave me the opportunity to research the female athlete, allowing me to better understand the unique aspects of the female body and how they impact performance.
With years of experience as an athlete and coach, I know the struggles athletes face and how to overcome them. I’m committed to offering a supportive coaching approach that motivates, challenges, and brings out the best in every athlete, all while making the journey enjoyable. I believe in stepping outside your comfort zone and trying new things, because sometimes the best decisions you make come from pushing your limits!
