Meet Jen
I live in London and am a big believer that even though I live in a busy city there is always the opportunity to train outside. My daily commute to work is on my bike and its no secret to those around me that I love to be outdoors finding some hills to climb and run. Therefore, at the weekends I can be found out in Surrey exploring the roads and love that triathlon has given me the opportunity to explore the world by bike or running the parks and trails of London. My love of hills and desire to explore means next up on my bucket list of races is Alpe D'huez Triathlon and the 70.3 Ironman World Champs in Marbella and then Nice
I grew up running for my local athletics club competing both on the track and in cross country at a regional and national level. After graduating from University I dipped in and out of casual running races before taking on my first sprint distance triathlon. I quickly fell in love with the sport and my competitive background kicked back in. Since taking up triathlon I have competed across the board in sprint to 70.3 distance races with a few quite notable successes along the way. My experience of growing up training in a team and being a very active part of TTT confirms my belief that immersing yourself within a community, training with others and creating a positive and balanced training environment is so important to be successful in sport.
I have been working as a physiotherapist the past 12 years and most recently developing my own private practise. I therefore have a wealth of experience in managing and treating various sports related injuries and have worked with everyone from first time marathoners looking to raise money for charity and challenge themselves, to new triathletes as well as more elite athletes pushing the limits of their sport. I have a very good understanding that training load tolerance is unique to each individual and needs to be considered when competing in endurance sports to prevent burn out and injuries developing. From personal and professional experience I know training load tolerance can be developed through a carefully planned training schedule and I am a firm believer that 'consistency is key' when trying to push your body to the next level. This is something I can bring to my coached athletes along side their every day training schedules.
