Keith joins TTT with 14 years of strength and conditioning expertise, now applied to endurance. Having made the switch to triathlon himself, he's worked through the same aerobic learning curve most of our athletes face. He trains 15 to 20 hours a week around a full-time job, two businesses and a family — so when he talks about building training around real life, he speaks from experience.

Coaching Philosophy
Before I write you anything, I want to know you. Not just your PBs — your job, your family, what your week actually looks like, and honestly how much you're willing to commit. Because a plan built on what you should be able to do is worthless. A plan built on what you can genuinely sustain is the one that works.
I also want to know what makes you tick. What you're chasing and why, what gets you out the door on a wet Tuesday, and what makes you want to skip it. Two athletes with identical numbers need coaching in completely different ways, and I can only get that right if I understand you as a person.
From there we agree on a goal and a timeframe, and we both commit to it. It’s important the plan fits your life, adapts when it needs to, and keeps you moving toward that goal rather than just filling your week. Endurance is built on the aerobic engine, developed consistently over months — and consistency comes from a plan you can actually live with. Strength work sits inside that, supporting the engine rather than competing with it.
Wherever you are in the country, you get the same thing: a bespoke plan in TrainingPeaks, ongoing two-way contact, and the backing of the largest triathlon coaching team in the UK. If you're in the North East, there's more on offer — face-to-face sessions, S&C at Unity, and training days alongside other athletes in the area. And if you fancy a Hyrox in the off-season, we can plan for that too.
Meet Keith
Currently based in Newcastle upon Tyne with my wife and two kids. I retired from rugby after twenty-five years of playing and needed something to replace it. Triathlon looked like the answer. I started small with a local sprint tri and built up over the last six years to full Ironman distance.
It's taken dedication and the right mindset to train consistently at that level while holding down a full-time sales job based in London, a family, and a gym business in Newcastle. I know what it costs to find those hours.
I taught myself at the start but the pivotal point was getting a coach: proper management of the loading, accountability, and someone who understood that the skill isn't hitting every session, it's knowing which to protect, which to move, and when recovery is the session. I only wish I'd done it years earlier
