Originally from New Zealand, Chris grew up in the South Island, a playground for sport and adventure that fuelled a lifelong passion for being active outdoors, from surfing and snowboarding to running and triathlon.
Enjoying the competitive side of sport, he played rugby to a high level through school and university, representing his province through the age groups, experiences that built discipline and a love for structured training. After university, he pursued a career in finance, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and spending 15 years in London’s financial sector, progressing to Associate Director. His years in sport and business shaped his coaching style, analytical, organised, and performance-driven.
Meet Chris
I discovered triathlon during my London years and have gained over a decade of experience as a competitive, coached age-group athlete, competing in numerous Ironman and 70.3 races, including World Championships across both distances, the pinnacle being Kona 2024.
I work with age-group athletes of all abilities, from first timers to World Championship qualifiers. Having balanced training with a young family and a demanding career myself, I understand the real-world pressures athletes face. My goal is to design smart, adaptable programs that align ambition with lifestyle, using experience, INSCYD metabolic testing, and data-driven insight to deliver the best results.
My Coaching Approach
I take time to understand each athlete — their goals, background, and how training fits into their life — then build a plan that works for them. Training should complement family, work, and social commitments, with consistency at its core. Through metabolic profiling and ongoing analysis, I tailor each athlete's strategy to their physiology to ensure time spent training delivers maximum return. Above all, sport should add to life; fulfilment and enjoyment come first.
Testimonials
Charlie Muir-Sands
I’ve worked with Chris for 2 years, firstly stepping up to my first Ironman distance race, and then for the Ironman World Championships. I’ve a busy work and family life but he tailored a plan that fitted in and adapted as my availability changed. Chris’s advice was invaluable in race preparation and execution too. If you are looking to take on a new challenge or perform at a higher level I’d definitely recommend him.

Working with Chris since August 2024 has been one of the most transformative experiences of my athletic life. When I look back at my achievements at Cascais 70.3, the Brighton Marathon, my first full distance Ironman in Copenhagen, and the recent Dubai T100, it’s impossible not to see his guidance in every metric of my results — more power, lower HR and quicker times!
He didn’t just build my fitness; he built my understanding of how to train and race. He helped me become a better athlete in all three disciplines, but more importantly, he helped me train with purpose, clarity, and confidence. The way he tailored every phase, explained the “why” behind the work, and pushed me just enough, including insisting on rest when I needed it — this made a huge impact.
I genuinely feel that I’m a stronger, more capable, and more educated athlete because of him. Thank you Chris for the patience, the encouragement, and the belief you brought to every step of the journey towards my first Ironman in Copenhagen earlier this year. It has meant a lot.
