Meet Gail

I’ve always been massively into sport. As a child, I was a dedicated club swimmer, and that early love for training and competition naturally led me into other sports as I grew older - netball, hockey and squash all played a big part in my life. But it wasn’t until my early 30s that I discovered running. What began as a personal challenge soon turned into a genuine passion, and over the years I’ve completed more than 40 marathons on both road and trail, including eight London Marathons as a Good For Age athlete.

Triathlon came much later. In my late 40s, I bought my first road bike since I being a kid, and that simple purchase opened the door to a whole new world. I entered my first triathlon in 2019 - an Olympic distance at Dorney Lake - and was instantly hooked by the variety, the challenge and the community spirit that surrounds the sport.

With a milestone birthday approaching, I set myself a bold target: complete a full Ironman before turning 50. After gaining experience with a couple of 70.3 races, I achieved that goal in 2021 at Ironman Finland. Since then, I haven’t looked back. I’ve now completed four full IMs and 16 half-distance events, each one teaching me something new about myself and what I’m capable of.

The real icing on the cake has been the privilege of competing as a Great Britain Age Grouper and qualifying three consecutive years for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Standing on those start lines representing my country has been an unforgettable honour and a reminder of how far I’ve come since that first bike ride.

Triathlon has been incredibly humbling and tremendously rewarding. It has challenged me, reshaped my mindset and introduced me to some truly wonderful people. Most importantly, it has brought me genuine happiness and reinforced my belief that it’s never too late to embrace something new. “Never say never” has become one of my guiding principles - whether in training, racing or life.

I’m passionate about helping athletes who are new to the sport, especially those who may feel unsure about where to begin. My goal is to guide, support and build confidence in every athlete I work with, helping them progress steadily and celebrate the milestones - big and small - along the way. Triathlon changed my life for the better, and I’m committed to helping others discover just how transformative and rewarding it can be.
