As a British Army Commando, Johns competitive sporting background highlights were varied; Junior Army Tetrathlon Champion, representing the British Army Cross Country Team, downhill ski racing and securing a half marathon pb of 1:12:21.  Since choosing to focus on Triathlon in his early 40s, John has completed Ironman events (full and half distance) finishing top 5% in his age group at 70.3, with wins in Age Group events at Middle Distance, Olympic and Sprint Distance Triathlons.  John offers coaching to both plant-based athletes and those with the more traditional approach to nutrition.


Meet John

My primary focus as your coach is to support you in achieving your goals, be that completing your first sprint triathlon for charity or achieving qualification to Ironman World Championship events. I look to work with you to integrate the training required into already busy lives to secure your best performance. I recognise that each athlete has individual needs which can extend past the technical swim, bike, run components of our sport, to the fundamentals of nutrition, fuelling and hydration with a strong focus on recovery. If that sounds ‘fluffy’, know that a military background has instilled in me the determination and discipline to get the absolute best from my athletes. Coupled with your consistency and application to training, we will reach your goals together!

I live with my partner Emma on the Isle of Man and am currently a full-time athlete. Whilst relatively new to Triathlon coaching, I have been a teacher and coach in a variety of disciplines and have been advising and supporting plant based / vegan athletes for a number of years.

John is racing twice (Covid willing) in the UK in a couple of months :
