About Kieran
Having been a keen athlete from a very early age with a background as an elite swimmer and cyclist, Kieran has been part of the TTT community for the last 5 years where he has been a coached athlete performing at a very high level over multiple distances. He has been helping other athletes for the last 18 months and we are now delighted that he has joined the coaching team at TTT as he also pursues his pro triathlon license over the next few years.
Meet Kieran
I’m 23 originally from Wrexham North Wales but now based up in Leeds perhaps considered the home of triathlon with the UK. From my earliest memory I have been involved with the sport of triathlon in some way or another, growing up I was an extremely keen swimmer and cyclist competing nationally across both of these all the way through high school. Towards the end of high school I began to take triathlon a bit more seriously and began working with total Tri and head coach Phil Murphy, coming from the strong swim bike background I found my self near the pointy end of races from the beginning and instantly I was hooked.
My dive into coaching started here where I qualified as a level 2 swim coach where I could use my many years experience and knowledge to help complete beginners all the way competitive swimmers. A personal highlight during this time was helping a female athlete who struggled to swim 25m to eventually come 6th overall at outlaw full
In 2020 I moved to university in Leeds where I began training with the Leeds triathlon centre home to some of the worlds best triathletes, being around these athletes really opened my eyes to what can be achieved with hard work and commitment. In 2021 I entered my first 70.3 in Bolton and realised this was the distance for me, 3 years on and I went back to bolton and led the majority of the race and also managed to qualify for world champs. During this time I also began coaching athletes across triathlon and have helped people achieve PB’s across run races from 5km to marathons, providing structured training around university and other commitments to get the most out of themselves, achieve their goals and most importantly show that fun and enjoyment can be had alongside success in this crazy sport.
