Meet Laura
I live in Cheshire, with my partner Chris and Milldog, the two very best training partners. Life is a mixture of training and competing on one side, plus working with athletes and clients to help them achieve their goals, whether it’s them competing in triathlon or rehabilitating an injury. I am a big believer in you are a product of your environment and we have worked very hard within TTT to create smaller and more local training groups, who regularly meet and support each other on and off the race course.
I have been involved within the sport for over 17 years now. I first started out as a swimmer, competing at a very early age for my local club Crewe Flyers. Running and cycling came a little bit later in life around age 12. When I started year 7, I heard about a cross country league that was taking place. Nobody else from the school wanted to compete so it was left to my parents to take me and support me. I won every race of the league and after a successful counties and then inter counties I was racing my first every English Schools Cross country that year.
My first triathlon was Sefton super sprint triathlon around age 12 on my mums mountain bike. It wasn’t enough to put me off as I realised this was what I really wanted to do! I spent my Junior years competing in the Tri Stars and then In the Super series events across the UK. Having moved up the distances through the years, I am now lucky enough to be able to travel the world competing across 70.3 and Ironman.
In 2016 I qualified as a Sports and Exercise Therapist and have been practising for the last seven years predominantly working with athletes. It has given me a greater understanding of the importance of a healthy working body. As an athlete it is extremely frustrating when we get injured and not being able to do what we love, so I am big believer in an ongoing strength and conditioning plan. Most of us would much rather go for a swim, bike or run than step foot in the gym, therefore I believe education is key so that the athlete understands the importance, as it is one of the key drivers of improving biomechanics, efficiency and reducing injury risk.
